What method do you use when greasing the swivel? My 1680 did the same thing a few back though I never hit it on anything. I contended that I had it greased properly, but it turned out that I had to have 2 people doing the greasing once a year at the start of the season. I will run the grease gun and the boss will cycle the auger in and out while I grease each zerk. At the time you could litterally watch the auger getting faster and faster. Now every season after sitting the winter, it will be a slight bit sluggy till I grease it while moving. I know, I know, safety. But I can stand well out of the way of the augers travel and still grease each zerk. I'd give that a try first unleass you allready do that. That would be the reason, at least to me, that it would get slower as time went on after the accident.
