Central Texas , Bastrop county
Iv'e never seen a magnetic chuck used on a drillpress, but it should work provided the mating surface to the chuck is pretty smooth. Don't expect an old rusty, bent up piece of steel will be held very well,in my opinion. nearly all surface grinders utilize magnetic chucks to hold the workpiece while being ground . I have seen a time or two where a workpiece was not flat or smooth enough for the chuck to hold and when the grinder came in contact with the workpiece , the workpiece was thrown across the shop and the grinding wheel was broken.
