Subject: RE: refuge rows with planter

Central, IL
1. Why worry about it when harvesting?

2. If you are worried about it for harvesting put the three refuge rows on the outside of the planter.

Then you will have six rows together to harvest every 18 rows. Drive straight with the planter so your corn

head can go down the bulk (guess) rows. On your second pass with the corn head just pick 3 rows of non-

refuge to get on the "right" rows.

I did this on a 20 acre field last year so I could map the yeild difference between Triple stack and

conventional. 20 to 30 bushel difference in some areas. The map had stripes through the field.
