So. IL
I have been applying 60 units of N in the fall then following up with 100 units of N in the spring at greenup.

Yields have been averaging 75 bu/acre +/-10 bpa.

If I'm right that equates to 2.13 total units of N per bushel.

Keep in mind that this is on no-till wheat following corn in soils where the five year county average for wheat is 56.8 bpa.

Also the five year county average for corn is 124.2 bpa. Certainly not the better soil type as can be found in central Illinois.

I plan to increase the spring applied N fertilizer to 115 units next year.

Also this area of Illinois tends to grow a lot of wheat: http://www.bnd.com/news/spiers/story/279824.html
