Subject: ATTN: Expected planting progress

This one is pretty much a no-brainer. Virtually no-one in the entire corn belt/Midwest has planted anything as of 4/14. The earliest most will get into the field is 4-18/4-20. Forecast now calling for 1+ inches of rain for all of Missouri and southern half of Iowa, and 1-2 inches for the western 2/3's of Illinois on Thursday-Saturday which isnt going to help the situation.

I am calling for National Planting progress to be at 3-4% based on southern seedings thus far, the same as last year progress, and 5-6% behind the 5 year average which is 9%. I don't look for much to get planted this week so I suspect next week wont be much more. Thanks to all who contributed as they'll become more important in the next few weeks.
