The internal adjustment in the clutch adjusts free play and the brake at same time. In my experience if you adjust the clutch using the adjustment mechanism in it you will not have to adjust the freeplay with the linkage. This is linkage freeplay is adjusted when the cluch is new and should stay correct as long as the clutch is adjusted internally.
