If it was me I'd use cheap HSS bit up to 1/2" and above that I generally prefer to buy a good drill like Cleveland. Regardless, learn to sharpen them and you'll be time and money ahead. Use a pilot hole and use lubricant. I can't see wasting money on titanium or carbide drills.
