NC Kansas | Sounds like you get along on most projects like I do Rich. I too heard the line that Teflon tape was "mooey bad" when I went to Vo-Tech. Must have been a few there that owned stock in pipe "dope" and not tape. We use some blue stuff when we do our softner plumbing, call it "Smurf S%^t" (you get the picture). It seems to work good, unless I use it in the shop before we leave and I forgtet to put it back in the van. Yes, it happens! Used the thread tape and it worked fine.
