Subject: RE: Machinery purchases

Pittsburg, Kansas

The best time to buy is when the machinery industry is wanting to sell the worst. Unfortunately, the reason they are wanting to sell so badly usually correlates with low farm income.

Fortunately for us we have been buying quite a bit of late model used stuff the last few years before prices started up and are pretty well bought up for a few years so we can hold off on any purchases. I wondered what the heck we were doing sometimes as it seemed we were buying more machinery than we ought to need but it was priced attractively enough that we jumped in. Sure glad we did now. Can put some of these profits from good crop prices in the bank instead of chasing over priced machinery.

Everybody might want to consider locking in some pretty attractive fixed rate machinery interest rates now. With the recent drops some refinancing might even be in order. With the economy as it is looking, a lot of variable rate notes might not look so good in a year or two from now. Lock rates in where you can.
