Assuming a 12" 2 stg. pump @ 80' head and about 2000GPM w/60 HP motor.(elect)

If there was a butterfly valve attached to the discharge and closed enough to cut the flow

down to + or - 1500 GPM would the amp draw on the motor increase or decrease.
