Subject: Row cleaners on JD1780

Driftless SW Wisconsin
The 1780 is a split row 30/15" planter. Do you "need" row cleaners to plant beans - obviously not. However the 1780 is usually used to plant 15" beans into heavily worked 30" corn stalks. We have many seed bean customers who run our single wheel row cleaner in these conditions to scoot the MANY loose often tough bt rootballs to the side so they don't plug the closers. The single wheel also reduces hairpinning and does improve seed depth control a bit. If you are using the 1780 to no till beans I would not use the single wheel but our 2003-12.75 NR combo but that is another topic. Good luck. Jim at Dawn
