I agree with this statement.  You're earlier statement though was overstating the value of the interest over those 20 years.  And then figure in a rate of inflation of 3% and before long that extra $20,000 in todays dollars doesn't look so bad 20 years out.

Understand the debt load problem real well.  I say we are worth x and wife says but we owe y.  I tell her as long as x is greater than y we are doing okay.
