Subject: RE: 2009 BYE

Hi Ken,
At a meeting a few weeks ago the question was brought up to an RMA rep. if you can plant BYE and get the discount on acres designated at FSA as irrigated. He said no. This is in IL. There is no rate difference for irr& non irr. However, this answer was conflicting with the answer that the field rep for an ins co who had called Kansas City.

Not being too familiar with irrigation, I believe the states to the west have to apply for so much water for the year???? What feww irrigation units around here are private wells. Since the unit is there, and it is starting to get really dry, do you let the crop stress to get your discount or give it a drink. In my opinion, a person could be caught up in the poor farming practice if he did not usee the irrigation.
