Subject: Planting corn with a grain drill

Probably a crazy idea, but has anyone tried it. Currently we plant everything in 15" rows with a corn planter and splitter (6 row) and chop for silage with a kempler head. Picked up a used Great Plains 24ft drill and thought about trying to plant some corn with it, in 7.5" rows or block every other row for 15" rows. Seed spacing will not be as good compared to a corn planter, but we could cover more ground. Right now we plant 34,000 seeds/acre and averaged 19 tons/acre last year, but can't really afford a bigger corn planter for this year, so just thinking for now.
