 That's kind of what I was thinking.  Make sure everything was greased well when it left the shop, and if some of the fellows didn't grease when they should or missed a fitting or two then it wouldn't be as serious.  Save a few bearings or a bunch of mid-season downtime and it might be worth it, if it really did last long and seal out water and dirt.
