Central Kansas | In many areas of Kansas the weed populations, specifically pigweed, have developed resistance to these herbicides. I wouldn't expect any residual control into the summer from either Finesse or Rave. Considering your proximity to me, I can't imagine things being too different. The only broadleaf weeds you may expect good control of are sunflower and cockelbur.
Buckwheat control is similar from either product. Your best weapon against it is a good canopy. After our crop froze, the canopy was poor and I saw fields in the area with terrible buckwheat that hadn't been a problem for many years.
If I was you I would rotate if your ground will support row crop. Atrazine works pretty good on buckwheat. | |
