NW Texas Panhandle | We won't plant till April 10th and will finish corn by May 20th for grain and Silage both, sweet spot is usually 4-25 thru 5-10.
Cty yield probably 175, we do have more silage now due to more Dairy cattle. H2O varies across area try to run 5gpm/ac for corn
as this will still give us 250+ if we get a few good rains. Rain fall here averages 15-18" and elev in Dalhart is 3900' with cool nights
in summer and that helps us make big yields as plants stress couple hours less each day. Soils are sandy loam to loamy sand and H2O infiltrates
well most of the time. Very little dryland, Google earth gives an idea of pivots. 9760 @ 4mph with 12 row @ 250bu makes alot of semi loads of corn per hour. Several circles @ 295 dry bu/ac in 2007.
