EdW has OK method.

We always used cotton packing as a medium. I think labs use some kind of sterile sand material called vermicelli or something. Maybe that's something we had @ Olive Garden though...not sure. Disposable diaper type stuff might work as long as it's not treated w/anything. We always sat ours in a cookie pan on top of the water heater & kept the cotton damp.

I believe the IL lab does cold germ by going initially into a refrigerator (of sorts) for 24 hrs(?) then moving to warm environment again. If your home refrigerator is set @ 35-40, maybe the beans would never germ? Not really many soils would stay @ 35 degrees for extended days @ bean planting time.

Here's IL Crop Improvement Lab. Not sure if they can germ RRSB for individuals or not. Could be a problem.

With the reported sb seed situation, germ may not be a factor in purchase.
