Subject: Good idea, I did the same thing...

Crawford County, Robinson, Illinois

I don't have pictures, but do have an idea for some that might want to build the same.

Neighbor had an old IH 400 cyclo planter that had hydraulic assist wheels.  We traded some stuff for one of the assist wheels, that have a swivel on them as well as a cylinder.

I had an IH 50 blade, and all I had to do was weld two heavy angle irons to the top of the rear of the blade, and bolted the IH 400 assist wheel to the blade.  By bolting it on, I could remove 4 bolts and remove the wheel if I wanted to use the blade without the gauge wheel.

There are a lot of IH 400 and 500 planters with assist wheels in fencerows and junk yards, and probably beginning to be some 800 or 900 as well.  Those assist wheels could be used for many similiar projects, keep them in mind.
