Subject: RE: crypto in calves- any suggestions?

Sioux Center, Iowa
Nasty stuff. Try to calve in a clean disinfected area. Anything made out of wood is nearly impossible to workwith as far as getting it clean enough. We used to have it about 15 yrs ago. Had pretty good sailing since then until it reared its ugly head again this fall. Crypto alone is manageable, but anything along with it is deadly. We powerwash and disinfect everything. Clorox isn't strong enough. Get some potent stuff. Our vet got us started using some stuff call Calf-Pro which is I beleive the bovatec you mentioned. So far it is working great for us, and I plan to keep using it. Cost /calf/day isn't much. After all these years, there still is no actual "treatment". Only supportive therapy, and bovatec, that "seems" to help.
