you don't HAVE to put the base on a tower, you could use it as a mobile base, take the base to each field and set the base where it'd be visible from all areas on the field. that is if run both tractors in the same field. or get/use another starfire as repeater to "bend" the signal over the hill.
i don't know any specs on the system itself so i apologize there.
