Subject: Topcon PCS-100 vs. Trimble EZ Guide Plus

I'd like to have everyone's opinion on Trimble EZ Guide Plus and how it compares with the Topcon PCS-100 Lightbar guidance system. We'd use the guidance system (no autosteer) on our 300 acres dairy farm, mostly for fertilizer spreading, spraying, manure spreading and possibly tillage operations. It will be used mostly on our new MF 7485 or MF 5455. The Trimble system is a bit less expensive ($1795) than the Topcon ($1895). However, the Trimble also looks more basic. Is it possible to use the Topcon as a datalogger as well as a guidance system. I like the colour screen on it too and the fact that the lightbar and screen can be separated (put the lightbar above the steering wheel and the screen in the right corner of the cab) . But Topcon isn't an established name in agriculture like Trimble is. So any experience with either system?? What is the good and the bad for each system??
Also, is it possible (on both systems) to set the implement as being offset behind the tractor (our manure tank spreads 3-4 feet wider on the left side than on the right side). How does it work when we leave the field (after emptying the tank) and come back 15 min later with another load?? Can we just pick the next swath or is there a special procedure??? Thanks for your input.

Nick
