Central Missouri | I use the 3 pronged approach. 1. Seed insecticide (cost 5.70/a) research shows 4 bu per acre even in absence of aphids. 2. spray when 1st adults fly into field seed insecticide is only good for 30-40 days(cost 3.65/a) 3. scout and spray in spring. If you are trying to average 100 bu you have to have less than 1% bydv. It cost at most $15/a to totally control aphids. In years when aphids aren't bad you will pick-up a min of 5 bushels in years when they are bad you can pick-up 25-35. | |
