Subject: Re: Seed Corn - stacked hybrids

I can't say that I've heard this one before.

However, I do know this: some genetic packages don't respond well to the RW conversions, regardless of the trait provider. In those cases, the conventional or single Bt event (CB only) may out yield a "triple". I think we are all functioning under the assumption that a "three-way" stack is RR, CB Bt and RW Bt, versus a "two-way" of RR and CB Bt.

Your other factor could be what insects you are controlling with the soil insecticide. Under heavy grub pressure, full rate soil insecticide treatments will out perform anything with no soil insecticide, regardless of traits. So, ask more questions before taking advice for face value. There may be other factors as to why this opinion was formed.

Good seedsmen ask why you want to utilize a trait and/or explaining the risks and benefits to the trait, not just tell you that you need it or don't. Blanket statements should be a "no-no".
