I prefer to leave stalks standing, but if you can't I would just run some rowcleaners pretty agressive and I bet you will be fine. Now if you were talking about corn after corn then no-you would need some earlier pass with a strip tiller or something to move that residue and get the soil exposed to warm and dry.
