Subject: Double Crop Corn

Here are some pictures of our corn, double cropped after wheat harvest. The first field is Dekalb 60-19 planted July 22. Until last week it hadn't received a rain since the day it was planted. The second field was planted Aug. 2. It is split Dekalb 60-19, Dekalb 48-53; the 60-19 is actually further along than the 48-53. The last two pictures are of ears from the last field. Still need a week or two before a freeze to be totally out of the woods???? Don't really know how quickly corn will finish this time of year in our area. We're used to drying down in the heat!!! I would say the starch line is about halfway down the kernel.
