Subject: RE: scales

Macon, IL
This is the ADM elevator at Macon, IL. Must be legal....

The reason they do it is twofold, they take wet corn in the doghouse-just beyond the scale-then you pull straight through to the 2nd scale and a ticket prints out your weight and off you go-pretty slick not circling around.

What is really cool is the dry corn. You weigh in town-then run out to a 2nd site with two 1/2 million bushel bins and the pile and unload into an (obviously) different pit. Then drive on the scale there and it print the ticket that was weighed in town 3/4 mile away. This is a new setup for them this year which was really nice-plus they get their dry grain hauled to the remote site for free by the farmers!

They have a 2nd pit in town for beans only. So when corn and beans are going they can actually unload 3 trucks at 1 time. I wish I had taken some pictures but dad did most of the hauling.
