West Ky
From Jan 1 until Sep 9 we had less than 6 inches of rain on our farms. From April 10 to Sep 9 we had less than 2.5 inches. Had corn waist high in many spots and the corn that died prematurly was testing anywhere from 5% to 8% while the corn that made it a little longer was 14% and along ditches and low spots 20%; a lot of cracked corn and the fields look as though you had a spreader truck sowing corn from the corn loss from the head. We got around 6 inches of rain in a 2 day period on Sep 9 -10. Not a drop in the ditches when we had two rains of .90 tenths in 15 minutes. Did not mow my yard for 3 months due to it being completly brown and still today many spots are still dead. Beans in the area are averaging anywhere from 7-20 bushels and some farmers are saying some fields to be left alone. Corn yeilds from 30-200 depending on if you got a stray shower in Late June. Always seems the same guys get the rains year after year when they need them.
