Brinkley, Arkansas | We had the discussion here a while back about how irrigated Delta Pine 117 was going to turn out. I finally got to pick my first field of it today. 35 acres (conservatively estimating the modules) looks to be 2.5+ bales. My 4554 planted the same time is doing 2.9-3.1 bales (actual gin lint weights @ 480# bales).
After the heat in August I really wasn't expecting much. When I defoliated this crop I would have sold anyone the whole shooting match for 900# so these yields are an exceptional surprise. None of my grades have come back yet but I'm hearing about a lot of variation from farm to farm from others. | |
