SE Nebraska | We have quite a few in our area plant wheat in 15" rows. Usually with decent yields.
Last year, Easter freeze hurt 15" row wheat much worse than narrower rows. The plants where just that much more exposed. 15" row wheat is generally healthier; dews dry off faster than narrower rows and results in less foliar disease though.
Overall, in a high yielding environment, 15" row wheat is limited to about 75-80 bushel tops. Never have seen it go over that. In 60-70 bushel wheat years, the 15" wheat will yield right with the narrower rows. | |
