Subject: RE: RTK,SF2 strip tilling

SW Kansas
We run 2 - 12 row 30" Orthman 1tRIPer's with SF2 and then follow with both our 24 and 12 row planters. Last year was the first year we did this and it seemed to work adequatedly. We do not buy into the theory that the seed needs to be placed exactly over the fertilizer strip. We just want the planter to run in the strip. We were somewhat concerned about sideways movement of the drawn planter on rolling fields but it did not present a problem. We just record the heading and use shift track to line the planter over the strips. If our real parents had taken us home from the hospital and money was not an issue we might run RTK but so far we don't think it is necessay at least in our conditions.
