Subject: killed some milo today

Went to a meeting a couple of weeks ago and the Monsanto rep (yes, he wants to sell more roundup) talked about advantages of spraying milo with roundup when it reaches physiological maturity. Grain drydown, dry up the green leaves that slow harvest and increase shoe loss, and kill the plant so it stops using moisture, especially if you are going to wheat after the milo is cut. So we made one round around an 80 acre field just to see how it would work out. If it allows us to harvest the grain dry instead of running it through the drying bin that alone should pay for the cost of spraying. Plus it wouldn't suprise me to save a bushel per acre of combine loss and should be able to drive at least 1 or 2 mph faster as well. Should be 120 bushel milo, the rep said that it will not fall down. We will see. Should be interesting when the neighbors see it starting to die!! Has anyone else on here ever tried this? I will try to update in a couple weeks.
