Well, If I was gonna fall apply N, I think you would be right, the wheat and/or rye would tie up a lot of it, especially if it was a while before you got it killed. The Austrian winter peas might be the number, and they are supposed to fix quite a bit of N. If I was going that route, I would probably plan on sidedressing those acres, and maybe doing a Presidedress N test.
