Subject: What I'm after...

Callao, Missouri
is something to hold the no-till ground after the NH3 application in late fall/early spring. I thought wheat or rye might use too much N? Maybe even the austrian peas wouldn't be up to the job?

This year the NH3 got mudded in the spring, and left enough ridges that I decided to run a chain harrow over the bean stubble after it. Well, that made a very pretty seedbed until the 4" rain. I had corn growing 40' from the field and a lot of washed out seed trenches/sheet erosion. I'm not sure how to approach the situation for 08, but I know that I don't want to see that again. It seems that we get at least 1 BIG rain every year.
