The corn field has been no till for 8-10 years. Its been a while since Ive done anything tillage-wise for a corn crop or soybeans. Used to grow snap beans and worked the ground for them, but have since quit growing them. The soybean field is probably not as long no till. It is ground shared with my Dad and when his rotation calls for potatoes, it gets plowed.

In my personal part of the operation the only thing tilled is seed corn ground. All corn and soy is no till. I do rip headlands and problem areas when needed. I'd like to do more whole fields to help with compaction. We use a JD2100 six shank ripper and I think its max depth is around 15". After ripping with that machine though you can hardly tell I was in it. It fits well with no till.
