Dear Diesel,

Sorry to not answer your direct question. However, I'll comment that this Wildblue satellite thang is working well. Of the three speeds available (fast, turbo and awesome or something like that) I got the awesome advertised at around 1.5 Megabits per second. It does that consistently for $84/mo. It does not like rain and cannot transmit through storms. Of course, I really ought be disconnecting the computer during those conditions...

I do keep my old ev1.net dialup ISP as a backup for around $100/yr. It runs about 24-36 Kilobits/sec. That's slow for anything on internet but decent for backup e-mails.

I don't know if this helps but wish you the best on finding what's right for you.
