Wardsville, Ontario, Canada
Interesting. About the 22% mortality rate. My preferred method for planting alfalfa/timothy is to plow up wheat ground, work it down and then plant the forage. So far, it seems to work. Maybe I have been lucky. I am planning on doing that again next week. There are more storms coming through tonight. I imagine the ground should plow pretty nice after this. If anyone else thinks I should think twice about this method of planting, please let me know. I'd hate to waste the seed. Actually, One time I spread some alfalfa timothy seed on wheat in the spring, instead of red clover. I didn't get a cut that year, but had a terrific stand the next. Take care for now.
