Subject: Wheat following wheat?

Embarrass WI

I have a couple fields that we recently combined wheat off of. They did really well and are now standing open. I don't want to seed alfalfa into them since they were alfalfa just before being wheat. Is there a good reason to not plant wheat into the same ground 2 years in a row? I normally spray with fungicide anyway, do diseases get a lot worse with wheat 2 years in a row?

This ground has a tendency to get really wet in the spring, the plant/harvest timing for wheat works good since I can mostly stay off when it is too wet. Oftentimes we wouldn't get corn planted until almost June. If not wheat, they would be NT beans or corn next year.
