South Central Kansas | Not all that much dryland corn here, but we have always raised some. Used to pick with a one row picker until 1970 or so. Gave that up and raised just enough for the silo untill a few years ago. Since I have started notilling, we can save the moisture and raise better corn.
Last year was our poorest crop, (way too dry) but this year's corn should be a crop to remember. I'm pegging it at 125 to 145 bu per acre. The 2388 is all ready to go and I will get the cornhead hooked on tomorrow. Moisture is still at 19+ on the dryest field and no elevator will take it over 18. I have an empty bin I can air dry some so we may get going in a few days. | |
