Subject: Re: Corn Prices

I suspect what gets everyone a little uptight about the tech fee is that it has doubled in price on the bean side for the exact same technonolgy that was being sold in 1996. What exactly has happened to make it more valuable? I supposed you can argue supply and demand but in then the argument about N prices has no merit. It has been interesting to see that everytime the price of glyphosate has decreased the tech fee has gone up. I would expect that total dollars spent have remained fairly flat but who is getting those dollars has changed. In regards to the new technology, if there is a 5-8 bu. increase in yield then tech fee will go up at least half of the additional revenue generated. There is no way Monsanto is going to let any extra income generated by their technology go into anyone's pocket but theirs.
