Is there any on-farm storage of corn in your area? Putting up a bin may pay for itself very quickly. I agree with msb - basis will be tough during harvest in most places this year just because of the short term volume of grain to handle. Overall the supply/demand looks good - just harvest is going to look like a pig going through a boa constrictor as they say. With storage you can sell and deliver at more profitable and maybe less congested times. 80 miles for 69 cents sounds like a good deal for dry corn and if the truck can just dump and get back. Maybe weather makes it tough to store on farm but might be a good thing to think about if you can get those yields. Out of curiosity why are you thinking of parking cornhead at those yields?? Doesn't seem like cotton would be that much more profitable. I am not really familiar with corn conditions in LA, last time I was there it was for a rice/bean combine test. Welcome any education.
