Subject: Re: winter rye

Northville, SD
The county I live in used to be the largest rye county in the United States. Actually I have never heard of spring rye. It is all "winter rye" and thus just called rye. Unless some one can prove me wrong. Watertown, SD buys lots of rye, but I can't think of the company. Yes rye is challenging. It really grows and gets vey rank. And it will grow like a weed if you don't control it. If you are harvesting it you may expect to see it for several years. We finally have gotten rid it in our area. It is a dreaded kerenel in a hand full of wheat.
