Depends on your present equipment,I would look at a wireless
webcam. If you have a wireless router you don't need the
computer running 24-7. Setup would be similar to using the
computer, as you would have to poke a hole through the router
so you can connect to the camera from the outside world.
I had a D-link than should work but never used, as I am on
dailup..
