MN | I've got an automatic feeder that I've run three batches of 20-25 through which is pretty decent for the price - www.biotic.com - the ID-Tek - single station - the lower priced model. Nice to be able to feed all hours of the day. We do leave the lights on all the time, but nice to be able to have a bunk for the calves to learn to eat with less waste, able to use round bales of bedding. Now as far as $$ goes, novaman is right about the price of milk replacer, but for starter I was paying about 19 cents per pound. The last group of calves used 40 pounds each (weaned at 5 weeks). | |
