Subject: From the post below about soybean meal

East central SD
Could you feed the beans after cracking them and keep the oil content instead of feeding soy meal? Would that not be better energy source. It would be spendier to feed beans at .18 cents to .13 for meal. When figuring the cost of ddg at 220 per ton I feel like I would better myself by using my own bypooducts versus having to write a check every month for ddg. Opinions PLEASE !!!!!

EDIT: Heres my math. .11 cents for ddg x 4= .44
.18 cents for beans x2= .36 plus 2 more pounds of corn @ .22 total is .58

.14 cents more but what will I be gaining or losing by doing this. Approximately .035 cents more on a cost of gain basis. And yes I am getting 4 # per day on steers bought off grass, last year was a bit more.
