C IL | Install one inside and one outside. My installer uses a one foot galvanized pipe between the hydrant and the plastic water line. He also installs the inside hydrants into an eight inch PVC pipe sleeve. He claims he can unscrew a defective hydrant from the bottom elbow, and install a new one this way. Don't forget the small nipple and street elbow pointed down on the drain. Get some pea gravel, if possible for the drain area.
I just don't like hose in the winter!
