New Mexico
herfys than the blacks IF you have real extreme heat during breeding ie & drouth.
Long as cows are getting plenty of supp groceries, cow color is less of an issue.

Best drouth cows ( best cows period from a feed efficiency to calf weaned stand ) have a shot of Jersey or Corriente or Longhorn in em ( bout 1/4 is ideal ).
All the afore breeds were dveloped over time for frugal or marginal enviro conditions.

Size is what hurts cows on drought more than anything.
Just tougher for a 1,400 lb kinda cow to keep on keepin on vs a 1,050 lb cow.
Hide area is what dispels heat.
Smaller cows have more per unit hide area than larger cows thus run a touch cooler in heat.

( the big cow gets thinner quicker. there's been plenty of the big framed cows that shrunk down to 800 lbs this year, basically walking skeletons ).
