now with feed at 2/3 your cost of production, adding cows doesn't spread out your fixed costs like it used to. But adding cows sure does add debt, so go for it!

I'll stay the same size and keep selling fresh heifers and buying land.


I'll second that. I always laugh when people claim the bigger farms can make milk cheaper. But all of our suppliers say they would rather deal with the small guys because they don't get behind on bills and when they do they are the first to get caught up if they get behind
