Where Lewis and Clark finished the rum
Hey CB - where are you?

Gary and I are in our third year of data collection. Interesting stuff.

See Long/osenthal paper on Zeltex site - http://www.zeltex.com/dan_long_paper.doc there's also a SSM pdf by Long and Engel. Saw first on the go protein unit 11 years ago, finally using one.

In dryland MT our yields vary 2- 4x (15 to 60 bu yields are not uncommon within the same field), we also see 2 x protein - 7 to 16 % not uncommon. SO waht to do with this?? Am busy measuring N response variations across the field(s) to see where N application is most practical.

I did close to 4000 acres of N application calcs/app this winter/spring based upon yield/protein (N removal). Have extended that simple calculation using a "binning" strategy - low yield / low protein, medium yield/low protein etc to high yield/high protein.

In the heat of harvest now - lots of "test plots" to report upon later.
