Copper sulfate(comes in blue crystals) in the right porportions will keep it clean too. My problem with the plastic tanks was IF not kept completely FULL all the time the cows walked in it and punched holes in the bottom. How do you keep them out of the tank??

I got some copper sulfate from our vet. I think dairies use it to fix hoof rot too.

I think the snails would be excellent TILL the tank runs dry,,,does it ever get empty,,,completely??

Can you use a shallow well and keep it full with a float system?? Gas powered pump if remote???,,,solar elec. power?? Close enough you can run black plastic on top of the ground to a water source??. Hauling water is such an on going thankless job!!! How about a sandpoint and a windmill?? How deep to decent water there??
